Scripture: I Thes. 5:16 Topic: “ An Attitude of Gratitude!”

I Thessalonians 5:16 tells us to Rejoice Always!

Gratitude is a practice of acknowledgment to God for the work being done across the world.

Some might say that you can’t always rejoice when trouble surrounds us.

You must learn to overcome discouragement.

I Thes. 5:17 tells us to pray without ceasing.

I Thes. 5:18 tells us that in everything give thanks for this is the will of God!

Romans 8:28 tells us that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

This includes the general call to salvation. You are the called.

Mark 6:41

Jesus thanked God for the five loaves and two fish.

His response was gratitude was Jesus’ response to the worried disciples.

We must learn to see the good in every situation.

What you see is not what God sees. Jesus saw overflow in the five loaves and two fish.

Thank God for what He has done for you today.

Thanks to God is a prelude is a prelude for a miracle. Just say God I thank you.

There’s always new things to be grateful for.

Gratitude begets gratitude; love begets love. Saying thanks to each other means saying thanks to God.

The challenge is the ability to express gratitude.

Jonah said in Jonah 2:9 that I will sacrifice onto the with the voice of Thanksgiving. He was in the fishes belly, yet he was thankful.

Psalms 118:1; Psalms 4:6; Col. 2:6-7

Thank you Lord is a three word prayer and can change everything.

There are three reasons to be thankful:

  1. All resources God has given us.

  2. Providence of God; his guidance and direction.  Job 42:2

  3. We are commanded to be thankful. This is God’s will concerning you.

Give thanks no matter what! Praise God in all things!

The one thing you thought kept you down can be the one thing that keeps you grounded.

  • Ephesians 5:20- always give thanks

  • Phil. 14:5-let your requests to God be known with thanksgiving.

  • Ps 34- praise the Lord at all times.

  • Ps 100-enter into his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.

  • Psalms 103-praise the Lord and forget not all his benefits.

Give God praises like:

  • Daniel when he was the lion’s den.

  • The three Hebrew boys when they were thrown into the fiery furnace.

  • Paul when he was thrown into prison.

  • And like Jesus before feeding a multitude with 5 loaves of bread and two fish.

Can you praise Him when all hope is gone?

Can you praise Him through the good, bad ;the fruitful and the lost.

Always try to see the good in the situation and be thankful in all that you go through.

It is important to have gratitude and thank God for everything!
