SUNDAY MORNING TIDBITS  03/01/26 Pastor Richelle “Chelle” Melvin

Scripture: Genesis 13:10-12

Topic:”Surviving Sin!”

Abraham also called Abram was often referred as the Father of many nations.

James 2:23- shows Abraham taking God at his word and being obedience.  If God said move, he moved.

Lot was Abraham’s nephew. They were together a lot until It started to be strife  between the two of them and they decided to separate.

Abraham allowed Lot to go where he wanted to go and take what he wanted with him.

Lot moved to fertile ground but just because it looked good to Lot doesn’t mean that is where you needed to be. He  moved to next door to Sodom and Gomorrah.

What sins are right outside your door?

Key Points:

  • Just because it looks good doesn’t mean that is where you need to be. Test the fruit.

  • Don’t get too close to sin that you start get to get comfortable the closer you get to it.

Lot settled outside the most sinful place you can be.  What was in Lot did not go anywhere.

Genesis 14:12- Now Lotus living in the city.

When you start to engage in scenarios not like you, you will find you are comfortable.

If you stay around long around a thing long enough, it eventually runs off on you  and you are no longer set aside..

It is said that it takes 21 days to make a habit and 90 days for that habit to become a permanent lifestyle change.

Constant exposure to a behavior leads to that behavior.

Genesis 19:1- Lot is not sitting at the gate of Sodom. He made small compromises to be accepted. The teachings he had from Abraham did not go anywhere.

The Bible says train them up a child in the way he should go and when he are old it will not depart from him.

God is the root that you hold on to know that God would bring you through.

Lot lost everything including wife.

Life saving lessons

  1. Beware of the progression of sin in your life.

Matthew 6:24-can’t serve two masters.

James 4:4-friendship of the world is an enemy of God.

  1. Common judgement is real. God gives you space to repent. He is slow to judge. Judgement is real.

  1. You cannot drift into Godliness.  When you go against the current of God; it always seems different.

Never drift into spiritual maturity without courage and effort.

  1. Become an Abraham to the Lots in your life.

Genesis 19:29

God saved Lot because Abraham prayed for him. Don’t stop praying for the prayers of a righteous man avails much!

  • Conflict in strife caused Lot to separate.

  • He was enticed by what was around him.

  • He chose to live! He has denial in thinking he could handle it.

  • He pitched a tent towards Sodom and he got comfortable!

  • He dwelt in Sodom- Lot accepted sin even though he did not agree with it.

  • He sat at the gate! In the midst of the party. He knew what was going to happen.

  • He carried generational curses with him. He lost his wife because she looked back.

What sin do you look back on that God has already delivered you from and you said I remember that.

Be mindful of what you do today in your life because there are generational curses waiting to attach to you.

“Surviving Sin!”

Learn to let go and let God!

Pray against those things not like God in your lives and say for God I live and for God I die.

All of us have sinned and survive what Satan tried to bring against us.

You will survive in Jesus’ name! Test Gos and see if He will open up the windows of heaven with an overflow of blessings in your life.
