Sunday Morning Tidbits for January 4,2026

Pastor Richelle Melvin

Scripture:  Lev. 20:1-8 Topic:” Consecrated For a Purpose!”

Theme for  2026: “Our Year of Consecration and Devine Purpose in His Will!”

Jesus tells Moses that anyone who deals with familiar spirits, sorcery or anything other than me, you will be cut off.

Live holy and righteous to God.

Consecration is being set apart, dedicated, or made holy for God's specific purpose and service, separating oneself from uncleanness or the profane to be devoted to the sacred.

We are born into sin.  Salvation happens through  the changing from the old man (self) to the new man (spiritual)

bringing about an intentional switch to live holy.

  • You have to put the work in!

  • Romans 12:1-2-I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

  • 2Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Churches condemn people for their lifestyles. What they do has nothing to do with their walk with God.

Being holy and consecrated doesn’t mean that you can’t live your life.

The word says to be respectable of one another and love one another.

How can you read your word daily and still be mean in your daily walk? It goes against God’s word.

  1. Be intentional with your life. Holiness and purity means sub staining from sin.

Sinning daily is a choice. You don’t have to sin everyday.

I Peter 1:15- “Be holy in all your conduct. Be holy because I am holy.

  1. Obedience to God’s word- Intentionally read the scriptures and learn God’s word.

Psalms 119:9-11-

9How can a young man keep his way pure?

By guarding it according to your word.

10 With my whole heart I seek you;

let me not wander from your commandments!

11I have stored up your word in my heart,

that I might not sin against you.

  1. Meditate on God’s word!

Be intentional about your study of God’s word.

See  it, write it and speak it . This helps you to learn it.

  1. Prayer and worship are essential components in being intentional.

Phil. 4:6 -“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God”.

Pray more! Worship more! Believe that God will do what he said he would do.

Make sacrifices for the sake of the Gospel.

Mark 10:45-“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Be service minded! Be intentional about your service to the community, church and etc.

  1. Separate from worldliness- you still can have fun and still enjoy God’s word.

Be mindful of who you are around and be respectful.

I  Corin. 6:17 -1”But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him”.

We collectively can become one in God’s house.

You have to step out the boat! Do t be afraid to step out the boat and walk on water.

Don’t be afraid to try new things.

If you can cultivate it, you can control it.

Matthew 6:33 - Prioritize-Seek Hod first.

I Thes . 5:18 - Show Gratitude -  Give thanks in all circumstances.

Proverbs 3:5-6-Trust in the Lord and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.

Timothy 2:4- Salvation- God desires all to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.

John 6:40- It is the will of God that everyone have Eternal life.

Ephesians-  5:17-Doing God’s will from the heart.

I John 3:17- Reward for obedience

Galatians 5:16-26 talks about the works of the flesh cannot inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5 also speaks of the Fruit of the spirit and crucifying the flesh. If we live in the spirit; we should walk in the spirit.

Christians are able to overcome sin and live in holiness by living in the Spirit and walking in the Spirit with purpose and aligning your will to God’s will.
