Pastor Richelle Melvin Topic: “Re-Imaging and Re-financing”
Scripture: Proverbs 23:4-5
How do you look at finances? Let’s see what does the bible say?
Proverbs 23:4-5 says that there is a dark side of money. You should not worry about trying to be rich because as soon as you see the money it is gone.
We have to re-imagine what wealth and riches look like!
Money is not evil, it is a means to make an exchange and when you have money you can move things around and things get done. When you have money, you have power.
Money is neither good nor bad right or wrong. It is emotionally neutral, but money has a dark side that leads a person into ruin and hardship.
Society says that hard work leads to an abundance of wealth. The bible says that you do not have to overwork to be rich. This is not to say not to work. Don’t overdo it. All you have to do is trust God to know that you don’t have to work four and five jobs to make it.
Fear God not man! Don’t just say it and not put it in your walk.
Instead, ask God what can you do to use what you have to pay your bills? Put God first and be wise. Understand what you are doing.
Remember our understanding is limited to God’s master plan! Ask God what for guidance according to His will.
You cannot worry about tomorrow. You must focus on God providing the finances and everything that you need today! Lord I’m faithful to you. God, I walk in you and I don’t have to worry. God will provide. Who are you putting your trust in.
Work does not lead to wealth. The more money you make, the more things you have to pay and that’s when worry sets in.
Most wealthy people has had wealth passed down to them and have generational money. Too many people are losing their lives trying to break into this money industry.
Don’t be envious of anyone having a great deal of wealth. A lot of wealthy people are rich because they are in the right place at the right time.
The world’s definition of wealth means having a great deal of money, resources and assets.
The Bible says that we are not of the world and we should not be conformed to the thoughts of the world .
II Timothy 6:11- Follow after righteousness,Godliness, faith, love, steadfastness and greatness!
When you have favor, it makes the move on your behalf. If you don’t have all the money you need, but you have favor you have all that you need.
The favor of God will put a rich man in the place to give you everything that you need and some. Favor will make them move on your behalf because of who you are and not what you have.
II COR. 8:12- Must have a willing mind- Be ready because God accepts you for who you are when you are focused on who God wants you to be. You must be stewards of his word. Show love in everything that you do.
You want to always have the favor of God in your life.
Show love in everything that you do. Be stewards of God.
You must have an eternal perspective (Matthew 6:19)
Don’t worry about worldly treasures but those in heaven. Make sure you are making daily deposits in your heavenly bank accounts.
The children of Israel didn’t have to take food into the next day. They had to trust God for food.
God said trust me! Who is God to you?
Wealth doesn’t last! (Luke 12:20)- It is temporary and unreliable.
Don’t be so fixed on wealth that you sacrifice God and who he is. People are sacrificing their souls. For what profits a man to gain his whole life and turn around and lose his soul!
Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel got upset and literally went crazy because God told them to get it together. Neb. started thinking it was him he who did things himself and not God.
It’s a heart condition! It’s about who holds your soul salvation.
I Timothy 6:7 tells us that you were born with nothing and you can’t take nothing with you in death.
Chasing wealth leads to dissatisfaction and spiritual danger. Stewardship and contentment are keys to wealth! You have to know how to work it even when you don’t have a dime.
You don’t worry about where it’s coming from when you trust God. God is providing.
God’s got you!
Wealth can can cause you to forget God! (Mark 10:16)
We tend to trust our finances or our things. We have to Re-imagine!
Proverbs 30:3-7
He is a shield if you put your trust in God! Pray over your house. Pray over your family.
We do need money and finances to live off of so no one is saying not to go after finances. The word doesn’t say God doesn’t want you to have a nice car or live in a nice house or go on vacations. The word says to do it in love. He wants you to do it in steadfastness and be a righteous child of God so you don’t think that it is earned but given.
We are just looking at finances from a biblical standpoint.
Exodus 6:20- Pray not for wealth or poverty but for your needs to be met.
The Lord’s Prayer tells us to give us this day our daily bread. This day God, I need you in my presence.
Concentrate not so much on your bank account, but on how God will provide for you and what He is doing in your life.
Wake up every day saying God I need you to show up for me this day.
Put your trust in Him and He will cause your overflow.
